Most residential rooftop solar systems are installed in a single working day. A crew arrives in the morning, mounts the rails and panels, runs the wiring, sets the inverter, and commissions the system by the afternoon. Larger roofs or complex layouts can take two days, but a typical home install is a one-day job when the survey and permits are already done.

What happens before the crew arrives?
The work really starts weeks earlier. As your EPC contractor, SunVolt Energy runs a site survey, checks the roof structure, measures shading, designs the layout, sizes the inverter, and handles the paperwork with the grid operator. By install day, every panel position and cable route is already planned. Nothing is improvised on the roof.
How does the day unfold?
The morning begins with safety setup: scaffolding or roof anchors, and a quick walk-through of the plan. Then the team fixes the mounting rails to the roof rafters, using flashings that keep the roof watertight. Panels are lifted up and clamped to the rails in rows.

When does it start producing power?
Once wiring is complete, the installer mounts the inverter (usually in a garage, utility room, or on an outside wall), connects it to your consumer unit, and powers up. Commissioning follows: the crew checks voltages, confirms each panel string reports correctly, and sets up the monitoring app so you can see production on your phone. From that moment the system generates electricity whenever the sun is up.
Before leaving, the team tidies the site, walks you through the monitoring, and explains the final grid connection step, which the operator completes separately. A clean survey, a planned layout, and a certified crew are what turn a solar install into a calm, predictable day rather than a surprise.
