Solar panels only produce while the sun is up, yet a lot of home energy is used in the evening. A battery bridges that gap by storing the surplus your panels make during the day and releasing it when you need it.

The daily rhythm
On a typical day the system powers your home directly, charges the battery with the excess, and only then exports anything left over. In the evening the house draws from the battery instead of the grid. The result is that more of the energy you produce is energy you actually use.
Is a battery always worth it?
Not automatically. A battery makes the most sense when your evening consumption is high, or when the difference between buying and selling electricity is large. For some households the numbers are compelling, for others a battery-ready system to add later is the smarter first step.
A proper assessment shows whether storage pays for your specific pattern, rather than selling you a battery by default.
