The honest answer is: it depends, but for a well-sized home system the share of your bill offset by solar is often substantial. The two things that decide it are how big the system is and how much of your production you use directly.

Self-consumption is the key number
Energy you produce and use at the same moment is the most valuable, because it replaces electricity you would otherwise buy at the full retail price. Energy you export to the grid is usually worth less. So a household that runs appliances during the day, or adds a battery, captures more value from the same array.
A rough way to think about it
- A correctly sized rooftop system commonly offsets a large part of a home's annual electricity cost
- Daytime use and battery storage push that share higher
- The precise figure comes from your real consumption profile, not a generic estimate
This is exactly why a proper energy assessment looks at your actual bills and usage pattern before recommending a system size. A quick calculator gives you an orientation. A specialist assessment gives you the real number.
